Ubuntu Wireless Driver Setup 9.10 - SystemError: installArchives() failed

dpkg (subprocess): unable to execute installed post-installation script

Solution

Hi Stefan,

sorry for the delay, your advice with "purge" was the solution, and I did it right away.

pt-get remove --purge dkms

It solved problem related to the shutdown during the update. However,I had to see that the wireless worked as well.

It didn't.

Next I had to go into the System->AdministrationHardware Drivers and enable the wireless.  It downloaded some files, I had to reboot, then the wireless device showed up.

Still no wireless, I found I had to right click the Network icon and make sure the wireless was enabled, then left click and chose my wireless network and enter the password and encryption setting.

Finally my wireless works with my broadcom WiFi on my Dell D630!

For VPN

sudo apt-get install network-manager-vpnc vpnc
